A Landmark in Administrative Infrastructure, Combining Modern Facilities and Historical Preservation;
Chief Minister Shri Nitish Kumar today inaugurated the newly constructed building of Patna Collectorate by unveiling the stone plaque and cutting the ribbon. After the inauguration, the Chief Minister inspected the Collectorate premises and basement. The officials gave detailed information to the Chief Minister through a 'model' regarding the facilities provided in the basement, ground floor to fifth floor of the newly constructed Collectorate building and the arrangements made for the seating of the officials.
The Chief Minister observed the area where the parts of the old building of Patna Collectorate (8 pillars) were preserved in an iron frame, near the main entrance in a part of the newly constructed Patna Collectorate premises. The Chief Minister said that the old part of the Collectorate building has been preserved in a very good manner. People coming to Patna Collectorate will be able to spend some time sitting comfortably amidst greenery in this open area. The Chief Minister also planted a sapling in the Collectorate premises.
Two quotes said by Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi ('Seven Social Sins' and 'Whatever we get from the earth is enough to fulfill our needs, but not enough to fulfill our greed) have been engraved on the ground floor wall of the Collectorate building, which the Chief Minister appreciated. He said that this will help Bapu's words reach the new generation and by following them they will be inspired to contribute towards establishing social harmony and environmental protection. Reaching the fifth floor of the Collectorate building, the Chief Minister took stock of the seating arrangements of the officials. During this, the Chief Minister reached the new office room of District Magistrate Shri Chandrashekhar Singh and made him sit on a chair.
The Chief Minister said that now all of you should sit in your respective offices of this newly constructed Collectorate building and solve the problems of the people. People will also get a lot of convenience after its construction. People will get relief from running around as administrative work will be done at one place. Going to the upper floor of the Collectorate building, the Chief Minister also inspected the surrounding areas. The Chief Minister held a review meeting in the main auditorium located on the fifth floor of the Collectorate building. In the meeting, a short film prepared by the Building Construction Department regarding the newly constructed Collectorate building was screened in front of the Chief Minister. The Chief Minister honored the District Magistrate of Patna, Mr. Chandrashekhar Singh, and other officials/employees who made a significant contribution in the construction of the new Collectorate building by giving them certificates.
Addressing the meeting, the Chief Minister said that I am very happy to inaugurate the newly constructed building of Patna Collectorate today. We had made a lot of efforts for this and this building has been built as we wanted. There is no Collectorate building like this anywhere in the country. While giving instructions to the officials, the Chief Minister said that special care should be taken to maintain it properly.
The Patna Collectorate building has been constructed in a very beautiful manner. Installing solar energy here will be of great benefit, it will save electricity. Today we have seated the District Magistrate, Mr. Chandrashekhar Singh in his new office. It is the responsibility of all of you to resolve the problems of the people on time. Many senior officers present here have also previously served as District Magistrate of Patna. My expectation is that all of you resolve people's problems in a better, transparent and speedy manner.
Building Construction Minister Shri Jayant Raj and Secretary of Building Construction Department Shri Kumar Ravi welcomed the Chief Minister by presenting him a green urn and a memento.
It is noteworthy that Chief Minister Shri Nitish Kumar had inspected the site for the construction of the new Collectorate building in the year 2017, after which approval was given in the year 2018 and the foundation stone of Patna Collectorate building was laid in the year 2020. For this, administrative approval for the construction of the building was given by the General Administration Department at a cost of Rs 186 crore 42 lakh.
Due to the global corona pandemic and the ban on construction work by the Supreme Court, its construction work started in the year 2022. After this, the construction work of the Collectorate building was completed within about one and a half years. This new Collectorate building has five floors apart from basement, ground floor, where apart from open parking with a capacity of 205 vehicles, basement parking with a capacity of 240 vehicles is available. In the historical background of the old Patna Collectorate, in the light of the recommendation made by the Patna High Court during the hearing of a petition, a part of the old building (8 pillars) has been preserved in an iron frame.
