Chief Minister Shri Nitish Kumar today inspected the developmental schemes going on in Sugauli of East Champaran district on the second day of Pragati Yatra. The Chief Minister unveiled the stone plaque of the newly constructed Panchayat Government Building in Ward No. 8 of Uttari Sugaon Panchayat located in Sugauli block and inaugurated it. After the inauguration, the Chief Minister inspected the newly constructed Gram Panchayat building. During the inspection, the Chief Minister inspected the Gram Kachhari Court, Mukhiya Room, Panchayat Secretary Room, Post Office of the Gram Panchayat Bhawan and took information from the officials about the facilities provided and the services provided to the people.

The Chief Minister said that the Panchayat Government Building has been constructed here in a very good manner. This will provide a lot of convenience to the people. While giving instructions to the officials, the Chief Minister said that the construction work of Panchayat Government Buildings should be expedited. We want that the construction work of all Panchayat Government Buildings should be completed by June 2025 at any cost. It is my concept that on the lines of the Central and State Government, the Panchayat Government should also have its own building. We have given 50 percent reservation to women in Panchayati Raj institutions and municipal bodies, under which 4 elections have been completed so far. A large number of women have won.

The Chief Minister took information from the officials regarding the activities taking place in Jeevika Bhawan located near the newly constructed Panchayat Government Building. The Chief Minister participated in the dialogue program with Jeevika Didi organized in the course of Pragati Yatra. Jeevika Didi greeted the Chief Minister by clapping and expressed happiness towards the development work being done by him. In the dialogue program, Jeevika Didi shared their experience regarding the facilities being provided by self-help groups and state government schemes. Jeevika Didi told that we women are getting a lot of benefit from the formation of self-help groups, due to this women are becoming self-reliant. Along with the Sustainable Livelihood Scheme, the schemes being run by the state government for the upliftment of women have increased the respect of women in the family. The economic condition of women has improved. The Poshak Yojana, Cycle Yojana, Scholarship Yojana, Incentive Yojana being run by the state government for girls has inspired them to move forward. The de-addiction campaign has brought peace in the lives of women. An atmosphere of love has been created in the society. Incidents of violence and harassment against women have now become negligible. For this, the women of Bihar are grateful to the Honorable Chief Minister. Addressing the Samvad program, the Chief Minister said that we named the women associated with self-help as Jeevika Didi. The central government of that time was impressed by this and named it Ajeevika. When I was a minister at the center, I got a chance to visit different parts of the country. At that time, I saw that the women of the country were doing very good work through self-help groups. At that time, there were very few self-help groups in Bihar. When the people of Bihar gave us a chance to work from 24 November 2005, we started the work of development of Bihar. In the year 2006, we took a loan from the World Bank and tried to increase the number of self-help groups as much as possible. Now the number of self-help groups in Bihar has increased to 10 lakh 61 thousand, with 1 crore 31 lakh Jeevika didis associated with them. Now the formation of self-help groups has started in urban areas as well. So far 26 thousand Jeevika didis have joined them. We are making every possible effort for the upliftment of women. Be it men or women, work is being done to take everyone forward equally. Whatever is necessary to make women empowered and economically strong, will be done so that women can become self-reliant. All of you should not forget these works. Remember the work we have done for the upliftment of women.

After this, the Chief Minister inaugurated the newly constructed over bridge (ROB)-cum-path at a cost of Rs 29.242 crore on LC-159 in Bariyarpur-Kachhari Chowk Path of Motihari by unveiling the related stone plaque.
