TMC MP Kalyan Banerjee Injured After Altercation with BJP's Abhijit Gangopadhyay; Suspended for One Day Following Heated Exchange
There was a clash between BJP MP Abhijit Gangopadhyay and TMC's Kalyan Banerjee in the Waqf Board meeting. After this, the meeting has been postponed. According to eyewitnesses of the incident, during this altercation, Kalyan Banerjee picked up a glass bottle and hit it on the table. The glass pierced him due to the breaking of the bottle and he got injured. It is being told that he has got four stitches.
According to information received from sources, the JPC meeting on the Waqf Bill started in the Parliament Annexe. The meeting was chaired by BJP MP Jagadambika Pal. Then a debate started between BJP MP Abhijit Gangopadhyay and Kalyan Banerjee. Kalyan Banerjee got angry and slammed the bottle kept nearby on the table. He has an injury in his hand. His thumb and index finger are injured. After the incident, AIMIM leader Asaduddin Owaisi and AAP leader Sanjay Singh took the TMC MP out of the meeting. After this, he was given first aid.
Legal experts from Cuttack came to the JCC meeting. He presented his side. Kalyan Banerjee said, "I want to ask something. "The chairman said, "You have already said these many times. Not now." On this issue, Abhijit Gangopadhyay and Kalyan Banerjee clashed.
After this incident, ATMC MP Kalyan Banerjee was suspended from the Parliamentary Committee on Waqf for a day. This information has come to light quoting sources. The Parliamentary Committee on Waqf (Amendment) Bill voted 9-8 on the motion moved by BJP MP Nishikant Dubey to suspend TMC MP Kalyan Banerjee for a day for his choice of words for panel chairman Jagadambika Pal and throwing a glass bottle towards Pal.
