Chief Minister Block Transport Scheme Launched to Boost Connectivity and Employment in Bihar

3600 Buses to Link Blocks with District Headquarters; ₹5 Lakh Subsidy Per Bus to Benefit 7200 People Directly

Under the Chief Minister Block Transport Scheme, subsidy will be given to the beneficiaries on the purchase of about 3600 buses to provide bus transport facilities in 496 blocks of the state. Under this scheme, the approved loan distribution program was launched by the Transport Department on Wednesday in Vishveshraiya Bhavan. Auditorium with the cooperation of State Bank of India.

Distribution of bus keys and acceptance letters among the beneficiaries

The approved loan distribution program was inaugurated by Transport Department Minister Smt. Sheela Kumari. The Transport Department Minister distributed the bus keys and acceptance letters among 5 beneficiaries under the Chief Minister Block Transport Scheme.

Employment will be created

Transport Department Minister Smt. Sheela Kumari said that the Chief Minister Block Transport Scheme was started in November 2023 with the aim of providing bus transport services to the people from the blocks to the district headquarters and various places in the state. Under the scheme, a maximum of seven beneficiaries per block will be given the benefit of subsidy on the purchase of buses. This will create employment in the state.

Safe transport service will be available on highways through buses. Transport Secretary Mr. Sanjay Kumar Agarwal said that it is the dream of the Honorable Chief Minister that every village should be connected to the district and the district to the capital. To provide safe transport service to the people, buses are being operated under the Chief Minister Block Transport Scheme. This will reduce road accidents on highways.

A vehicle of development

The Transport Secretary said that bus transport service is being provided from the block to the district headquarters and various places in the state. This is not a bus, it is a vehicle of development. Development will happen seamlessly when the district, village and city are connected to each other. With the launch of the scheme, about 7200 people of the state will get direct employment and many families will get indirect benefits.

A grant of Rs 5 lakh will be given per bus

In the block where the number of Scheduled Tribes is more than 1000, the benefit of the scheme will also be given to an additional Scheduled Tribe category in that block. This scheme is an important scheme of the state government, which is directly connected to the common people. Under this, on the purchase of about 3600 buses for 496 blocks, 5 lakh rupees per bus is being paid to the beneficiary as a grant.

Nodal officers in every district

State Bank of India's General Manager, South Network, Mr. Ravindra Kumar Srivastava said that under this scheme, connectivity will increase in the state. Along with this, development and employment will also be provided to the youth. For the successful implementation of this scheme, there will be nodal officers in every district so that the beneficiaries do not face any kind of problem.

On this occasion, Additional Secretary, Transport Department, Mr. Praveen Kumar, Joint Secretary Krityanandranjan, Deputy Secretary Mrs. Aruna Kumari, Mrs. Archana Kumari and other officials etc. were present.
