Cabinet Clears ₹28,602 Crore for 12 New Industrial Projects Under National Industrial Corridor Development Program

NICDP to Develop Greenfield Smart Cities Across 10 States, Creating 40 Lakh Jobs and Transforming India’s Industrial Landscape

In an important decision in the cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, 12 new projects have been approved under the National Industrial Corridor Development Program (NICDP). The estimated cost of completing these projects is Rs 28,602 crore. NICDP is expected to create significant employment opportunities, with 10 lakh direct and 30 lakh indirect new jobs being created.

These industrial areas will be located in Khurpiya in Uttarakhand, Rajpura-Patiala in Punjab, Dighi in Maharashtra, Palakkad in Kerala, Agra and Prayagraj in Uttar Pradesh, Gaya in Bihar, Zaheerabad in Telangana, Orvakal and Kopparthi in Andhra Pradesh and Jodhpur-Pali in Rajasthan. These projects are expected to transform India's industrial landscape, boost economic growth and global competitiveness.

The main objective of NICDP is to create a strong network of industrial cities, so that a strong industrial system can be developed. These projects will include multi-modal connectivity infrastructure that will ensure seamless movement of people, goods and services. These industrial cities will be developed as Greenfield Smart Cities, built on the concept of “Driven by Demand” on ‘Plug-n-Play’ and ‘Walk-to-Work’ concepts.

The approval of these projects is a significant step towards realising the vision of ‘Vikasit Bharat’ – a developed India. These projects incorporate ICT-enabled utilities and green technologies to minimise environmental impact.
