BSF Fires to Repel Infiltration from Bangladesh in Tripura
Amid Bangladesh Violence, Indian Borders Strengthened with Increased Patrols
Amid the ongoing violence in Bangladesh, a large number of people are trying to infiltrate India. Due to this, the Government of India has put the Border Security Force (BSF) on high alert. In this sequence, Bangladeshi citizens have tried to infiltrate the Indian border. This infiltration attempt took place in the forward area of Khowai district of TripuraA BSF spokesperson said they had to be fired upon to stop the infiltration.
The BSF has informed that a group of 12 to 15 Bangladeshi citizens were trying to cross the border from the Paharmura border outpost area of the district by taking advantage of the bad weather and low visibility in the area during the day. Despite being warned by the BSF jawans, the intruders tried to cross the fence on the border by force. BSF fired by a pump action gun to stop the infiltration attempt.
After the firing by the BSF, the group of Bangladeshis fled towards the Bangladeshi area. The BSF spokesperson has informed that a major incident of infiltration could be prevented due to the vigilance of the jawans. He said that keeping in mind the unrest and law and order situation in Bangladesh, BSF has increased surveillance on the border.
Amidst violence and unrest in Bangladesh, Assam Police is also on high alert in the border areas adjoining Bangladesh. This vigilance of the police is to ensure that no person can enter the state illegally. Assam Director General of Police GP Singh said that the Center has issued instructions that no person will be allowed to enter India illegally from Bangladesh.
