Bihar’s "Irrigation Water to Every Farm" Program Accelerates Under Seven Nischay-2

981 Projects Launched to Enhance Irrigation in Over 149,000 Hectares; Focus on Ahar-Pain, Check Dams, and Lift Irrigation

Under the Seven Nischay-2 of Atmanirbhar Bihar, the work of providing irrigation water to every farm through every possible means under the "Irrigation Water to Every Farm" program by the Government of Bihar is continuing. Under this program, irrigation water is to be provided to every farm through every possible means.

Under the 'Irrigation Water to Every Farm' program, the Minor Water Resources Department is responsible for the renovation work of Ahar-Pain larger than one acre area, construction of weir / check dam (more than 15 meters length) to provide irrigation facility in command area up to 2000 hectares and renovation work of lift irrigation scheme, in addition to the implementation of private tube well and dugwell irrigation scheme work.

Under this program, construction work of Ahar-Pain and Weir / Check Dam is being done in various districts of the state so that up to 2000 hectares of command area can be connected with irrigation facility.

So far during the financial year 2021-22 to 2023-24, work has been started on 981 schemes / structures, which include 723 Ahar-Pain, 62 Check Dam, and 196 Udvah Irrigation Scheme. These efforts will restore irrigation capacity in about 149029 hectares of area and restore 38 lakh cubic meters of water storage.

The Minor Water Resources Department is determined about this important project and is trying to ensure that irrigation facilities can be provided to all the farmers of the state.
