Bihar to Expand Automated Driving Testing Tracks to Five More Districts

State-of-the-Art Technology and Camera Surveillance to Ensure Fairness, Transparency, and Road Safety

On the lines of Patna and Aurangabad, now driving tests will be conducted on tracks equipped with cameras and ultra-modern technology in Purnia, Bhagalpur, Darbhanga, Saran and Gaya. For this, the already built testing track will be automated. This work will be done by the Transport Department from the CSR fund of Maruti Suzuki India Limited. For automation of driving testing tracks in these districts, a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) was signed between Maruti Suzuki India Limited and the Transport Department in the auditorium located at Visvesvaraya Bhawan on Tuesday.

Will help in ensuring safe traffic

Transport Department Minister Mrs. Sheela Kumari said that I appreciate the commitment of India's leading vehicle manufacturer Maruti Suzuki towards road safety and their nationwide programs. Automation of driving testing tracks will not only help in preparing skilled and trained drivers on the road, but will also reduce accidents and help in ensuring safe traffic. Driving test will be taken under camera surveillance Transport Secretary Mr. Sanjay Kumar Agarwal said that before issuing the license, driving test will be taken through ultra-modern technology under camera surveillance. After passing the test, the license of the applicants will be issued. To promote road safety, it has been decided to automate the driving testing track. Under this process, the testing work will be completed automatically without human intervention by computer system. For this, the track will be automated by Maruti Suzuki in 5 districts under CSR. In the coming days, driving testing based on state-of-the-art technology will be taken in other districts as well.

Driving efficiency will be evaluated correctly

The Transport Secretary said that by doing state-of-the-art technology based driving testing, the driving ability will be evaluated correctly and road accidents will also be reduced. Through this, human intervention in the driving test process will be reduced, which will ensure fairness and transparency. Testing is already being done with state-of-the-art technology in Patna and Aurangabad. State Transport Commissioner Mr. Naveen Kumar said that in order to issue driving licenses to skilled drivers, cameras and state-of-the-art technology based driving tests are already being taken in Patna and Aurangabad. For this, the work of automated driving testing track in Patna and Aurangabad was done by Maruti Suzuki. After its success, it has been decided to automate the driving testing tracks in Bhagalpur, Darbhanga, Gaya, Purnia and Saran.

Only qualified drivers will be able to get the license

An important aspect of road safety is the driver's skill and knowledge of traffic rules. The automated driving testing track equipped with high definition cameras and integrated IT systems is a comprehensive, effective and transparent testing process that ensures that only qualified drivers are given licenses. On this occasion, Senior Vice President cum CSR Head of Maruti Suzuki India Limited, Mr. Tarun Agarwal, General Manager, Road Safety Maruti Suzuki India Limited, Mr. Kalyan Sundar, Additional Secretary Transport Department Mr. Praveen Kumar, Joint Secretary Mr. Krityanand Ranjan etc. were present.
