Bihar CM Observes 'Vriksha Suraksha Diwas' on Raksha Bandhan

Nitish Kumar Ties Protective Thread to Tree, Emphasizes Environmental Awareness and Reforestation Efforts

On the auspicious occasion of Raksha Bandhan and 'Bihar Vriksha Suraksha Diwas', Chief Minister Shri Nitish Kumar tied a protective thread on the 'Bombax Ipolitica' tree in the Rajdhani Vatika in Patna today. On this occasion, the Chief Minister also planted a 'Doranda' plant in the Rajdhani Vatika.

It is known that on 13 August 2012, on the auspicious occasion of Raksha Bandhan, the Chief Minister had launched the "Bihar Vriksha Suraksha Diwas". Its objective is to make people aware of the environment, preserve plants and plant as many trees as possible. Planting and saving trees is very important to reduce the damage being caused to the earth due to climate change.

Tree plantation is being done on a large scale under Jal-Jeevan-Hariyali and other schemes. Work is also progressing rapidly in the direction of promoting eco-tourism in the state. With the schemes and efforts of the state government, the people of the state are becoming aware of the protection of environment and animals and tree plantation.

On this occasion, Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Samrat Chaudhary, Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Vijay Kumar Sinha, Water Resources and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Mr. Vijay Kumar Chaudhary, Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Dr. Prem Kumar, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Mr. Deepak Kumar, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Dr. S. Siddharth, Secretary to the Chief Minister Mr. Anupam Kumar, Secretary of Environment, Forest and Climate Change Department Mrs. Bandana Preyasi, Secretary to the Chief Minister Mr. Kumar Ravi, Special Officer to the Chief Minister Mr. Gopal Singh, Commissioner of Patna Division Mr. Mayank Warvade, District Magistrate of Patna Dr. Chandrashekhar Singh, Senior Superintendent of Police Mr. Rajiv Mishra, former General Secretary of Bihar State Citizens Council Mr. Arvind Kumar Singh and other dignitaries and senior officers were present.
