Bihar CM Nitish Kumar Transfers ₹1650 Crore to Beneficiaries under Key Rural Development Schemes

Bihar Chief Minister Shri Nitish Kumar transferred an amount of Rs 1650 crore 33 lakh to the accounts of beneficiaries under various schemes of the Rural Development Department by clicking the mouse at 'Sankalp' located at 1 Anne Marg.

During the program, the Chief Minister transferred an amount of Rs 113 crore to 34 thousand beneficiaries for livelihood promotion under the Sustainable Livelihood Scheme. The Chief Minister launched the Sustainable Livelihood Scheme on August 5, 2018. The benefit of this scheme is being given to extremely poor families traditionally involved in the production and sale of country liquor and toddy and targeted extremely poor families of Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and other communities.

The Chief Minister transferred Rs 400 crore as a community investment fund to 48 thousand 500 self-help groups under Jeevika. Along with this, a bank loan amount of Rs 537 crore 33 lakh was also transferred to 15 thousand 314 self-help groups under Jeevika through various banks. Under the Jeevika project, loan capital is provided to self-help groups from the bank, which is used by the women members associated with the group for various types of self-employment. In this financial year, a bank loan of Rs 5164 crore has been made available to self-help groups.

The Chief Minister transferred an incentive amount of Rs 180 crore to 1 lakh 50 thousand families after the construction of toilets under Lohia Swachh Bihar Abhiyan. Under the Saat Nishchay 1 scheme, the Shauchalaya Nirman Ghar Ke Samman program has been included to solve the problem of open defecation, due to which 1 crore 22 lakh families have self-constructed individual toilets in the first phase of Lohia Swachh Bihar Abhiyan (2014-15 to 2019-20).

To achieve the goal of 'Clean Village-Prosperous Village' under Saat Nishchay 2, solid and liquid waste management is being implemented in all the villages of the state to ensure the permanence of freedom from open defecation under the second phase of Lohia Swachh Bihar Abhiyan (2020-21 to 2024-25). In the second phase of Lohia Swachh Bihar Abhiyan, so far more than 17 lakh 79 thousand families have self-constructed individual toilets, out of which incentive amount has been paid to 19 lakh 29 thousand beneficiaries.

Under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Gramin, housing was approved for 1 lakh 10 thousand families and an amount of Rs. 420 crore was transferred as the first installment to 1 lakh 05 thousand beneficiaries. Under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Gramin), a total assistance amount of Rs. 1.20 lakh is given in three installments along with the progress of house construction. Of this, 40 percent i.e. Rs. 48 thousand is given to the beneficiaries as a state share.

In the next 100 days, about 2 lakh 43 thousand families will be given Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Gramin and for this, about Rs. 2800 crore will be transferred by MNREGA in the wage head and by Lohia Swachh Bihar Abhiyan in the construction head.

During the transfer program, the Chief Minister said that it is a matter of great happiness that Rs 1650 crore has been transferred to the accounts of beneficiaries of various schemes today. Due to this, the beneficiaries have started getting immediate benefits. He said that the benefit of the Sustainable Livelihood Scheme is being received by extremely poor families traditionally associated with the production and sale of country liquor and toddy and targeted extremely poor families of Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and other communities. Due to this, they are becoming self-reliant and self-sufficient. At the same time, their families are also benefiting from this. Jeevika Didi is using the capital received by self-help groups in the form of bank loans for their self-employment in a very better way. Due to this, women have become self-reliant, which has brought a lot of change in the family and society. Lohia Swachh Bihar Abhiyan is being run by the government for the self-construction of toilets to get rid of open defecation. We are allocating funds for this. The construction of toilets is very important to get rid of open defecation. He said that the government is committed to providing basic facilities to the homeless and families living in kutcha houses in the state.

Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Vijay Kumar Sinha, Rural Development Minister Mr. Shravan Kumar, Chief Secretary to the Chief Minister Mr. Deepak Kumar, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Dr. S. Siddharth, Secretary of Rural Development Department Mr. Lokesh Kumar Singh, Secretary to the Chief Minister Anupam Kumar, Secretary to the Chief Minister Mr. Kumar Ravi, Special Officer to the Chief Minister Mr. Gopal Singh, Chief Executive Officer of Jeevika Mr. Himanshu Sharma, Additional Chief Executive Officer of Jeevika Mrs. Abhilasha Kumari Sharma and other senior officers were present in the program, while District Magistrates, Deputy Development Commissioners and beneficiaries of all the districts were connected through video conferencing.
