Bihar CM Nitish Kumar Conducts High-Level Law and Order Review Meeting

Emphasizes strict crime control, increased police recruitment, and completion of land surveys to reduce disputes-related crimes

Chief Minister Shri Nitish Kumar held a high-level review meeting of law and order at 'Sankalp' located at 1 Anne Marg and gave necessary guidelines to the officials.

In the meeting, the Chief Minister was informed by the Principal Secretary of Home Department, Shri Arvind Kumar Chaudhary about the work being done by the Home Department and Director General of Police Shri R.S. Bhatti about the updated status of the work being done for crime control. The Director General of Police said that the police is working continuously with full alertness. The work of investigation is also being done rapidly so that the culprits get quick punishment. Land related matters are being resolved by continuous monitoring through Samadhan Portal, due to which land disputes are decreasing. Earlier, the percentage of murders that took place were due to land disputes, now it has come down to 46.69 percent. With the Dial 112 service being available to people within 20 minutes in the entire state, better police service is being provided to the citizens.

During the review, the Chief Minister gave instructions and said that law and order is the top priority of the government. Do not show any negligence in crime control. Do not show any negligence in patrolling, intensify night patrolling. To make night and foot patrolling more effective, senior officials should go to the area and do surprise inspection at night. Everyone should work with full dedication in maintaining law and order. The Chief Minister said that strict action will be taken against the police personnel who show negligence in work. He said that speed up the crime investigation work and complete it on time so that action can be taken against the culprits soon. Police and administration should work diligently to maintain law and order and take strict action to control crime.

The Chief Minister said that 2,29,139 posts have been approved in various categories to increase the number of Bihar Police. 1,06,436 policemen are working. Fill the remaining vacant posts soon. We have made a provision of 35 percent reservation for women in the police since the year 2013. Currently, the number of women in Bihar Police has reached about 30 thousand. The participation of women in Bihar Police is the highest in the country. He said that due to the increase in the number of women in the police force, the women who come to the police stations with complaints are getting convenience in resolving their problems and their confidence is increasing. The posting of women officers and women police personnel should be ensured in every police station. He said that it should be ensured that the visitors coming to the police station are treated well and their words are heard.

The Chief Minister said that more than 60 percent of murders happen due to land disputes, which is now decreasing. It has been informed that it has reached 46.69 percent, which is a good thing. He said that the work of land survey and settlement should be completed quickly so that the incidents of crime related to land disputes are completely reduced. Keep a special eye on the implementation of liquor ban, identify the miscreants and take action. Identify the officials involved in this and ensure strict action. He said that strict action should be ensured to stop illegal mining. He said that the atmosphere of communal harmony is maintained in Bihar and the policemen have done a good job for this. The administration and the police should keep a close watch on anti-social elements.
