Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar Inaugurates Bapu Tower: A Tribute to Mahatma Gandhi by Bihar Government
New Museum in Patna Showcases the Life and Ideals of the Father of the Nation
Chief Minister Shri Nitish Kumar today inaugurated the newly constructed Bapu Tower in Gardanibagh by cutting the ribbon and unveiling the plaque. The Chief Minister visited the ground floor, third floor and fifth floor of the Bapu Tower and observed the exhibits in various galleries. After the inauguration, the Chief Minister paid tribute to the Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi by offering flowers to his portrait.
After this, the Chief Minister also inspected the turntable theatre show (rotating curtain) in the orientation hall built on the ground floor itself and sitting in the orientation hall, observed the film based on Bapu's biography, his ideals and works and the glory of Bihar.
During the inspection of various floors and 5 ramps of the newly constructed Bapu Tower, Secretary of the Building Construction Department, Shri Kumar Ravi gave detailed information to the Chief Minister about all the information related to Gandhiji's life, exhibits through murals, cutouts, screen projectors etc. During the inspection, the Chief Minister inquired about the auditorium, waiting room, lounge, gallery for display of works to establish the ideals of Bapu among the common people, research centre, visitor facilities and other structures. While observing the exhibits of Bapu Tower, the Chief Minister said that Bapu Tower has been built very grandly, it will be worth seeing for the people. The new generation will be able to know the biography of Bapu, his thoughts and his ideals by coming to Bapu Tower. Here, historical events related to Bapu's life, Gandhiji's thoughts, his role in the freedom struggle, his attachment to Bihar and Bapu's ideals have been displayed in a better way so that the common people can come here and see and understand it. This complex has been made green and organized.
After this, in the program organized in the conference hall of Bapu Tower, the Chief Minister inaugurated the 'Bapu Tower' website. Through this, detailed information about Bapu Tower will be available. The Chief Minister also released a copy related to the 'inauguration of Bapu Tower'. The Chief Minister honoured the engineers and technical experts involved in the construction of Bapu Tower by giving them certificates. A short film based on Bapu Tower was also screened in the programme. Shri Vijay Charu and his associates who came from Ahmedabad presented Bapu's favourite song 'Vaishnav Jan To Tene Kahiye Jo Peed Parayi Jane Re'. The Chief Minister also planted a tree in the Bapu Tower premises. At the beginning of the programme, the Secretary of the Building Construction Department, Shri Kumar Ravi welcomed the Chief Minister by presenting him with a green plant and a symbol.
On this occasion, Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Samrat Chaudhary, Water Resources and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Mr. Vijay Kumar Chaudhary, Rural Works Minister Mr. Ashok Chaudhary, Building Construction Minister Mr. Jayant Raj, Food and Consumer Protection Minister Mrs. Leshi Singh, Director General of Bihar Museum Mr. Anjani Kumar Singh, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Mr. Deepak Kumar, Secretary to Chief Minister Mr. Anupam Kumar, Secretary to Chief Minister cum Secretary of Building Construction Department Mr. Kumar Ravi, Special Officer to Chief Minister Mr. Gopal Singh, Commissioner, Patna Division Mr. Mayank Barbade, District Magistrate Dr. Chandrashekhar Singh, Senior Superintendent of Police Mr. Rajiv Mishra, Municipal Commissioner Mr. Animesh Parasar and other senior officers and engineers of Building Construction Department were present.
It is noteworthy that on the instructions of the Chief Minister, the Champaran Satyagraha Centenary Celebration was organized by the State Government from 10 April 2017 to 20 April 2018. On this occasion, a National Discussion Program was organized on 10 and 11 April 2017 at Gyan Bhawan, Patna. During this program, the Chief Minister had announced the construction of Bapu Tower in the form of a museum in Patna. The Chief Minister had said that Gandhiji's thoughts will be displayed in Bapu Tower and people will be able to visit and learn about Bapu in detail. He had said that work is going on the entire plan and it will be unique. People from all over the country will come to see it. As per the vision of the Chief Minister, the Building Construction Department gave administrative approval of Rs 84.49 crore for the Bapu Tower building on a total of 7 acres of land in Gardanibagh, Patna in the year 2018. The foundation stone of the Bapu Tower building was laid by the Chief Minister on 2 October 2018 on the occasion of Bapu's 150th birth anniversary, which was inaugurated today. Bapu Tower G Plus Six has been built, which has two parts - rectangular building and conical building. The rectangular building has three exhibition galleries, auditorium, temporary exhibition gallery, office room, waiting room, museum shop and refreshment room. The story of Mahatma Gandhi's early life, his stay in London and South Africa and his arrival in India has been narrated in the first gallery of the rectangular building.
