Arvind Kejriwal Pledges to Waive Electricity and Water Bills Ahead of Delhi Assembly Elections
AAP Leader Assures Relief from Soaring Utility Bills, Highlights 10 Years of Development Work
Former Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) convener Arvind Kejriwal has promised to waive soaring electricity and water bills if he comes to power after next year's Delhi Assembly elections. He was speaking at a function organized on the occasion of Vishwakarma Day in Transport Nagar.
On the occasion, Arvind Kejriwal said that he is not like the leaders of other parties who make promises but do not work. “I am not a political leader like the leaders of other parties. For the last 10 years, I have worked to develop people. I have been educated in a country institution, so I know how to work,” he said.
He said that when he was in jail in the Delhi liquor policy scam, the Lieutenant Governor was running the Delhi government and people were getting increased water and electricity bills. “Don’t worry,” Kejriwal said. Now I’m out and your bills will be waived when you come into power in February,” he said.
The AAP chief claimed that his party's government in Delhi had delivered all-round development, ranging from education to health and free bus travel for women. “Vote for those who have worked,” he said. I'm not saying vote for you. Ask the BJP what they have done for your children. I challenge them to show a single thing they have done for the people of Delhi.” The Delhi Assembly elections are scheduled for early next year.
