Agriculture Minister Sets Ambitious Goals for Crop Coverage and Productivity in State
Shri Surya Pratap Shahi Emphasizes Pulses, Oilseeds, and Maize; Calls for Improved Seed Availability and Digital Crop Survey Analysis
State Agriculture Minister Shri Surya Pratap Shahi gave necessary guidelines to the departmental officers to achieve 100% coverage target in the state. He said that coverage data should be compiled every three days. By preparing an action plan for those crops whose productivity is behind the national productivity, national level productivity should be achieved within the next 1 to 2 years.
During the meeting held at Krishi Bhawan, he also instructed the planning officers to give special emphasis on pulses, oilseeds and maize. Preparations should be made from now to make quality seeds available to farmers for Rabi sowing. Seeds of gram, lentil and maize which have high productivity and are also suitable for the state, should be made available by demanding the same species. Millet crop is also to be promoted. Work should be started for this from now.
During this time, the minister inspected the Agricultural Statistics and Crop Insurance Section. He instructed to test the coverage data and send the report. Also test the rainfall data. A report should be sent after conducting a field inspection of the digital crop survey. An analysis should be done on the reasons for the decline in the productivity of millet, maize and sesame. During this, all the concerned planning officers of the department were present.
