In a significant move to advance the infrastructure and connectivity of Bihar, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today conducted a high-level review meeting at the Chunapur Military Airport in Purnia. The meeting, held in the airport’s meeting hall, focused on the development of a civil enclave at the military airport, an initiative expected to significantly ease air travel for residents across multiple divisions.

District Magistrate Kundan Kumar provided a comprehensive presentation detailing the land acquisition status, runway specifications, road connectivity plans, and other key aspects of the project. His presentation aimed to give the Chief Minister and other attending officials a clear picture of the progress made so far and the tasks that remain.

Air Vice Marshal S.K. Mathur, along with the General Manager and Architect from the Civil Aviation Department, also shared their insights and suggestions for accelerating the project. Their inputs highlighted critical areas that require attention to ensure the airport's timely completion.

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, in his remarks, stressed the importance of expediting the development work at Chunapur Military Airport. He pointed out the strategic advantage the airport would provide, reducing the dependency on Bagdogra Airport for the residents of nearby divisions. “The completion of this airport will bring immense convenience to the people. They will no longer have to travel long distances to Bagdogra; instead, they will be able to fly from right here,” he emphasized.

CM Kumar also underscored the need for robust road connectivity to facilitate smooth passenger movement to and from the airport. He directed officials to ensure that the airport is equipped with adequate seating and other basic amenities, ensuring a comfortable experience for travelers. "It is essential that we take special care in arranging these facilities so that people face no inconvenience," he instructed.

Earlier in the day, the Chief Minister conducted an aerial survey of the Chunapur Airport, assessing the site’s readiness from the skies. Following the survey and review meeting, he paid tribute to former Chief Minister Late Shri Bhola Paswan Shastri by garlanding his statue in Kajha village. CM Kumar also inspected the renovation work at Kajha Kothi and the adjoining lake, underscoring his commitment to the region's overall development.

In a related development, the Chief Minister inaugurated new facilities in Purnia, including the newly constructed model police stations at Rupaili and Champa Nagar, and a regional forensic science laboratory. These projects, completed at a cost of Rs 19.20 crore, are part of the state’s broader push to enhance law enforcement infrastructure. Additionally, CM Kumar laid the foundation stone for four more police station buildings in Purnia district, with an estimated cost of Rs 25.93 crore.

The Chief Minister’s visit to Kajha Kothi was also marked by his interaction with various department representatives who had set up stalls on the premises. He handed over cheques and acceptance letters to beneficiaries of schemes such as the Mukhyamantri Udyami Yojana, Sustainable Livelihood Scheme, Bihar Student Credit Card, and the Intercaste Marriage Promotion Grant Scheme. These initiatives reflect his administration’s focus on empowering citizens through targeted welfare programs.

CM Nitish Kumar concluded his visit by planting a sapling in the courtyard of Kajha Kothi, symbolizing his vision for a greener and more prosperous Bihar. Local leaders and public representatives honored him with a garland of Makhana and a memento, acknowledging his ongoing efforts to transform Bihar into a state of progress and development.

The event was attended by a host of dignitaries, including Food and Consumer Protection Minister Leshi Singh, MLA Vijay Kumar Khemka, former MPs Santosh Kushwaha and Dulal Chandra Goswami, and several senior government officials. Their presence underscored the significance of the day’s proceedings and the collective commitment to Bihar’s growth.

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s continued focus on infrastructure, connectivity, and citizen welfare reflects his broader vision for Bihar’s development over the next five years. His hands-on approach and regular visits to project sites demonstrate his determination to ensure that the state moves forward on the path to progress.
