Abhay Verma Opens Up About Casting Couch Experience in Bollywood
"I Won't Give Anyone Control Over My Dreams," Says the Actor After Returning to Mumbai with Renewed Strength
Casting couch is the dark truth of the Bollywood industry. Many newcomer actors and actresses have to go through this. Recently, Abhay Verma, who gained a lot of popularity from the film ‘Munjya’, spoke openly about his experiences. In a recent interview, Abhay told how he once went for a meeting and there he had to face the casting couch. After this incident, the actor left everything and returned to his home.
Abhay Verma may have got recognition from the film Munjya, but he has appeared in many shows before this as well. In the interview, he said about his first meeting, "My first meeting in Mumbai was such that imagine a boy has come from Panipat, with his culture and clean heart. At that time I realized that this person was not talking to me about work. He wants something else." After this incident, Abhay left his dream and returned to Panipat.
Abhay Verma further said, "I felt that maybe this city is not for me, nor is this dream for me. So, I crushed my dreams. However, after a few days, I realized that I wanted to do something creative. I was determined that I would not give the remote of my dreams to anyone else. Why should I give people the control to play and change channels? After this, I decided that I would return to Mumbai. After this, I came back to Mumbai and I saw some changes in myself. I returned to Mumbai with a new strength. "
Abhay was further asked if he ever got involved in any kind of fake photoshoot. In response to this, he said, "This happens a lot in Mumbai. Some people say that you pay us such fees and the next role is yours. However, I realized that this cannot happen. Whether you are talented or not... a person will get you any number of roles. I never thought of taking such shortcuts. I believe in moving forward step by step."
