The picturesque setting of the snow-capped Pir Panjal Ranges provided the backdrop for an exceptional display of athleticism, sportsmanship, and camaraderie. The event aimed to empower Kashmiri youth by channeling their energy and enthusiasm towards constructive endeavors through competitive winter sports.
Despite enduring harsh temperatures, the enthusiasm of young athletes was evident as participants continued registering until the last day, February 27th. The Chinar Open Winter Games went beyond the competition, fostering inclusivity through outreach programs that engaged local communities.
This year's games attracted a diverse range of participants, including seasoned competitors and enthusiastic amateurs. Featuring adrenaline-pumping skiing races, exhilarating snowboarding competitions, and a variety of other winter sports, the event showcased the remarkable talents and skills of the region's youth.
Hazika Tarooq of the Srinagar District and Vakar Ahmad Lone from Baramulla emerged victorious, securing the gold medals in the female Giant Slalom (under-18) and Snowboarding categories, respectively.
