Adani Group has expressed its desire to join Bhutan's new 'Gelephu Mindfulness City' infrastructure project. Bhutan is starting a mega township project on its southern border with India. Adani Group wants to invest in this project. For this, talks are going on with the government there. In this connection, Gautam Adani met Bhutan's King Jigme Khesar Namgyal Wangchuck recently. Gautam Adani posted on X

Adani Group Chairman Gautam Adani had said on the social media platform X at that time, "Honoured to meet His Majesty King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck of Bhutan. Inspired by his vision for Bhutan and the ambitious ecofriendly masterplan for Gelephu Mindfulness City, including large computing centers and data facilities. Excited to collaborate on these transformative initiatives as also on green energy management for a carbon negative nation!"

Adani Group is in high-level talks to build solar and hydro electric plants on 1000 square kilometers (386 square miles) of flat land in Gelephu, Bhutan. Gelephu's new governor Lotay Tshering talked about the plan for the new city in an interview. Let us tell you that the population of the hilly country Bhutan is less than 800,000. The mission to revive its infrastructure is nothing less than a great opportunity for a business group like Adani.

Bhutan has been a strategic and long-standing ally of India. It is also keen to stop the influence of China in its neighborhood. If this attempt succeeds, it can be considered a strategic success for the country along with the expansion of Adani Group's business internationally.

Adani Group is already developing infrastructure projects in Israel, Kenya, Tanzania, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Vietnam. The group is also trying to acquire these projects in some countries.

Tshering, who will be the Prime Minister of Bhutan till 2023, said that some 100 sites have been identified for the renewable energy project. This project is expected to generate a capacity of 20 gigawatts. As part of the development of Gelephu, roads and bridges are to be constructed. Contracts for which will be issued later.

Not only this, Adani Group is also talking about building a big international airport in Bhutan. Right now these talks are at the design stage. A dry port i.e. inland port is also to be built, which will connect the railway to the road or seaport.
