ACAD Global 2025 Launched, Crossword Enthusiasts From Araria To Australia Join The Challenge

The much-awaited ACAD Global 2025, a daily cryptic crossword contest, launched on Sunday in a grand virtual ceremony by former Indian cricket legend Mr. Dilip Vengsarkar and Mr. Vivek Singh, IAS, Chief Mentor, Extra-C.

The first-ever international crossword extravaganza has sparked a global frenzy, with registrations pouring in from every continent. This unprecedented event has united puzzle enthusiasts from all corners of the world, promising a thrilling and intellectually charged competition like never before!

The contest stands out as a one-of-a-kind global platform, open to participants of all ages and nationalities. Its unparalleled appeal has drawn an incredible range of entries, from students in residential schools in Araria and Jehanabad, Bihar, to renowned cruciverbalists in the USA and UK.

Participation from all continents! Registrations have poured in not just from crossword hubs like the USA, UK, Canada, and Australia, but also from countries yet to carve their place in the global crossword community. Enthusiasts from Mauritius, Oman, Bahrain, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Gambia, Morocco, Sweden, Bangladesh, Thailand, Bolivia, Kenya, and more have joined, highlighting the contest's truly global reach and inclusive spirit.

In his inspiring inaugural address, Dilip Vengsarkar drew parallels between his cricketing career and the mental agility required for solving crosswords. "Minds are like parachutes; they work best when they are open. Just as I had to anticipate the next delivery from a fast bowler or spinner and find gaps in the field to score runs, crosswords teach you to think analytically, prepare, and stay ahead of the competition," he remarked.

ACAD Global (A Clue A Day) offers participants a daily challenge with a cryptic clue posted every evening at 6:00 PM IST (12:30 GMT) on (link unavailable) Participants have until 5:30 PM IST (12:00 PM GMT) the following day to submit their answers, with points awarded for both speed and accuracy.

Running until December 15, 2025, the contest includes a competitive phase from February 1 to October 31, where participants will vie for the coveted title of ACAD Global 2025 Champion.

Beyond the thrill of competition, ACAD Global also acts as a training ground for the upcoming World Cryptic Crossword Championship, scheduled in June in London, making it a cornerstone of the global cross word community.
